This happened to my family - Don't let it happen to another family...
My Mother and Brother died in the Penhallow Hotel fire in Newquay Cornwall...
Please - Ensure your property complies with the law and does not put people at risk!
Don't let this happen to your guests.
It may surprise you that I in no way blame the Fire Brigade!!
Since 2005, it has been the SOLE RESPONSIBILITY of all hotel and care home owners and managers to ensure that all guests can evacuate the building safely in the event of fire – In the case of the Penhallow, evidence at the inquest made it obvious that the hotel did not comply with the law and as a result, 3 people died. Therefore the fire brigade cannot be held accountable for the deaths.
We fully support the Fire Brigade in their new role in enforcers of the law.
If you are the owner or manger of a hotel, care home or bed and breakfast, this is of vital interest to you and your business.
No-one wants to think that their premises could be destroyed by fire. You may already be aware that the law changed in 2005 and that it is now ...
YOUR RESPONSIBILITY
for the fire safety and the safety of the guests at your premises. This responsibility was taken from the Fire Service who no longer check premises for you, they now implement the law.
